In the early 1990's Lauren had become ill from a drug mis-diagnosis. She was bleeding internally and tried different medications prescribed by her doctor to stop it. Ms. Bortolami sought alternative therapies in herbal medicine and within two days the bleeding was gone. Ms. Bortolami studied with the same Herbalist who treated her and received two certifications in Herbal Medicine. To compliment the herbal remedies, she was told to try Reiki for pain modification., but was very skeptical about this "healing energy"that was being taught in hospitals. Lauren received the first Reiki attunement in 1993 and from that point on was "hooked". Through the use of Reiki and Herbal Medicines she was able to become pregnant even though the doctors gave her a 2% chance of having a child due to an ailment that is common in women today.
After the traumatic loss of her father in 2005, and during a difficult time in her life, Lauren decided to continue her studies in Reiki. In 2006, Lauren became a Certified Reiki Practitioner and in 2007 a Certified Reiki Master and completed two programs in Spiritual Communication to help her clients. The training helped her to become emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger to help others going through the same situations as she had with bereavement, illness, divorce, stress, and trauma. Lauren opened the Reiki Shoppe in July 2007 in downtown Bridgewater Center at the Rotary. The Reiki Shoppe has done very well since the opening. "All of our clients ages range from 18 to 75 and their occupations and backgrounds vary from Bridgewater State College Students, Registered Nurses, Construction Workers, to Business Owners". "They come for Reiki for relaxation, stress reduction, and pain modification as well as Spiritual Healing if they lost someone". "Most of our clients are repeat customers coming back weekly, biweekly or monthly and referring new clients to us" says Lauren Deknis Bortolami.
Ms. Bortolami is a member of the International Natural Healers Association, the International Association of Reiki Professionals, The Bridgewater Business Association.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of energy and spiritual healing. When our energy is low, we are more likely to get sick and feel stress and when our energy is high, we are more capable of living a happy and healthy life. The Reiki Shoppe is a Request a Session Reiki is a relaxation therapy that is used in Children's, Brigham & Women's, and Jordans' Hospitals, Spaulding Rehabilitation Clinic and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Massachusetts by trained nursing and physical therapy staff pre/post surgery, during medication or procedures, and after chemotherapy.
